Personality: There is Mary Poppins who is "Practically perfect in every way" And then there is Ben Birnbaum who is equally as perfect in equally as many ways. Physically he his sound (and believe me he's had NO complaints from the ladies), but it's his mental and social state that make him the gem that he is.
Being blessed with an easy lifestyle leaves an individual two options. One is to treat the rest of the world in contempt in that you were owed this life in the firstplace, and Two is to relish what you've got and use it to live a well balanced life. Luckily for him Ben chose option number two. Hardly selfish, and working towards a good degree in sociology (in the long run) there isn't much that people don't admire about him.
History: For a toddler who was given everything he wanted, to a boy who had every single hearts desire fulfilled, to a young man greatful for where he stands in the world and knowing that he is truely blessed to have lived the life he did Ben's life hasn't been dramatic. Sure there were teh absences of his parents but that's just the way life was, is currently, and always will be. To be big in Hollywood means to be bigger then life itself and unfortunately - family is a life option.
There was never a shortage of attention from his parents, never a reason for him to believe that they loved him any less merely an intercom at the dinner table so the family could enjoy a conversation over a meal instead of a full family unit in the same room. Drunken nights from which a mother and father would return home from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood parties and almost forget that there son had been waiting patiently in bed for them to read him a story for seven hours. So how did ben turn out as pleasant as he has? Easy - a nanny.
At the age of 4 they hired a nanny from London, she was on exchange but after falling in love with the small dark haired child and becoming almost the older sister he was never bound to have, she stayed on. And not only for another year... she was his nanny right up until he was 13 when he went away for proper schooling. To have the love from such a devoted friend (not merely an employee) saved Ben and it was through this that he barely even noticed when his parents forgot to wish him happy 10th birthday.
After his freshman year in princeton he's moved back to a place where he can live with his friends and finally with his parents as a mature young man. It's not as if his contact with them has grown over the last few months, but he has to admit - seeing them every few days or so is a real buzz for a kid who barely saw them growing up. Being in great demand like that... Ben's only just discovering what it's like to be a much wanted entity like them. But truth be told... does he really want it? Hmm, he's not sure.
Sample RP: (I hate how people always give their best RP here so I've just picked out one of my latest normal ones for you. Go Alex, I'm setting the moral bar that one notch higher.)
Fergus paused, was he going to act like his friends and play it confidently, or was he going to be the usual cowardly self that he was around girls he liked? Another glance at Jess' eyes and instantly the former seemed worth it more so then the later. "Well sitting on that side of the couch is so... last week." He smiled and pulled himself up so he was sitting cross-legged and put his arms out for Jess to take. "Now over here with me... that's the cool side. You are cool aren't you Jess?"
As he waited for her to take his hands Fergus wondered what Duc, Seth and Asher would think of him at this moment. They'd always laughed at his attempts to charm girls - well that was probably because he always failed miserably in that particular department, but to see him actually being slightly cocky and flirting with somebody he considered to be one of his best friends - they'd most likely go into shock. It was a case of the 'fish out of water' syndrome really.
Fergus took a deep breath and brought himself back to reality, and glanced at Jess again making eye contact and holding it. He had read once that to hold eye contact longer then a normal glance was meant to be the first sign of sexual attraction... and he had to face it, he was very sexually attracted to Jess - but that wasn't the only thing that made her so special. She wasn't a bitch like most girls and she seemed to be one of the only females left in the school who had survived the drama of the 'it clique' in one piece. Jess had a beautiful face, he'd always thought that she was particularly pretty, and as Fergus wasn't really into discussing how 'hot' girls were with his mates, he found delight in thinking that being the classy creature that she was, Jess was not hot, but gorgeous.
